To supply Kherson cellulose-paper industry with raw materials two cotton-plant varieties with fiber yields of 1.9-2.2 t/ha were created.

It is different by the high drought tolerance

It is high-yielding variety.

Origin: It is created by crossing of Bulgarian variety Beli Izvor and Ukrainian one 3988y with further multiple selection.

Biological characteristics. The variety is fast-ripening. The period of vegetation is 105-115 days. Ripening comes 4-5 days later in the irrigated conditions. Plant has got a short stem with height of 40-50 cm in the non-irrigated, and 50-60 cm in the irrigated conditions. The shrub is pyramidal, the stem is pubescent, antocyan-coloured. The leaf is middle-sized, palmet-lobed with dark green colour. Fruit’s elements are set at the height of 12-14 cm in the non-irrigated conditions, and at the height of 14-15 cm in the irrigated ones. The boll is middle-sized, rounded, with four flaps. The boll mass is 5.5-7.0 g. The 1000 seed weight is 98-103 g in the non-irrigated, and 115-120 g in the irrigated conditions.

The fiber is white, its yield is 37.0-38.0%. The yield of fiber is slightly lower under the irrigation (by 0.7-1.5%). Cotton  fiber by the qualitative indicators belongs  to  the medium  fibrous varieties  with  a  length  of  29.5-32.1  mm  in  the non-irrigated conditions and 1.2 mm longer in the irrigated ones. The breaking load is 4.6 g/force,  relative  one is  26.8.  Gs-tex, the metric number is 6510. The fiber type is v-vi. Qualitative indicators  of  the fiber  meet  the  industrial requirements.

The variety is resistant to Verticillium and Fusarium wilt. It is characterized with the fast boll ripening, especially of the first harvest. It is different by the high drought tolerance.

Yields in the non-irrigated conditions in favorable, heat-ensured years are 2.5-3.0  t/ha,  and  in  the  moderately heat-ensured years they are 0.2-0.4 t/ha lower. Larger yields in the South of Ukraine in the irrigated conditions are obtained at the expense of harvesting of the after-frost raw and unopened sleeping bolls.

Pidozerskiy 4 is recommended for cultivation in the non-irrigated and irrigated conditions. It is a good forecrop for cereal crops.

Origin: It is created by the multiple individual from Bulgarian variety Beli Izvor.

Biological characteristics. The variety is fast-ripening. The period of vegetation is 115-120 days.

Plant has got a short stem with height of 45-55 cm in the non-irrigated, and 55-65 cm in the irrigated conditions. The shrub is pyramidal, the stem is pubescent, antocyan-coloured. The leaf is middle-sized, palmet-lobed with dark green colour. Fruit’s elements are set at the height of 11-13 cm in the non-irrigated conditions, and at the height of 13-14 cm in the irrigated ones. The boll is middle-sized, rounded, with four flaps. The boll mass is 4.8-5.5 g. The 1000 seed weight is 99-105 g in the non-irrigated, and 116-118 g in the irrigated conditions.

The fiber is white, its yield is 35.0-38.0%. The yield of fiber is slightly lower under the irrigation (by 0.7-1.5%). Cotton  fiber by the qualitative indicators belongs  to  the medium  fibrous varieties  with  a  length  of  29.5-31.1  mm  in  the non-irrigated conditions and 1.2 mm longer in the irrigated ones. The staple length is 30.4-31.1 mm, the linear density is 5640-5670, the breaking load is 3.8-        4.6 g/force,  relative one is  25.5-26.9. The fiber type is v-vi. Qualitative indicators  of  the fiber  meet  the  industrial requirements.
